Aluminum-Composite Two-Piece Construction:

This Volvo brake disc features an advanced aluminum-composite two-piece design that pairs a high-carbon gray iron friction ring with a lightweight aluminum center hat and mounting structure. Unlike conventional one-piece cast iron discs — where the entire disc, including the non-friction mounting area, is made from heavy cast iron — this composite design uses aluminum for the center section, leveraging aluminum's exceptional strength-to-weight ratio to achieve significant mass reduction. The friction ring remains cast from G3000 and GG15HC high-carbon gray iron to preserve optimal friction characteristics, thermal stability, and wear resistance, while the aluminum hat contributes the lightweighting benefit. This intelligent material combination delivers the braking performance of a cast iron disc with substantially reduced overall weight.

Maximum Lightweighting & Fuel Efficiency Benefit:

The aluminum-composite construction delivers more pronounced weight savings than steel-hat composite designs, as aluminum is approximately one-third the density of cast iron and significantly lighter than steel for equivalent structural dimensions. With a 300mm diameter and 67mm total height, this disc achieves meaningful mass reduction that directly translates to lower unsprung weight and reduced rotational inertia — both of which contribute to improved vehicle dynamics, quicker suspension response, and marginally enhanced acceleration. For Volvo vehicles, where safety and efficiency are core brand values, this weight reduction also supports improved fuel economy and reduced emissions over the vehicle's operational lifespan, making the aluminum-composite disc an environmentally conscious choice without compromising braking safety or performance.

Thermal Expansion Management & Differential Growth Design:

A key engineering challenge in aluminum-composite brake disc design is managing the differential thermal expansion between the cast iron friction ring and the aluminum center hat — two materials with significantly different coefficients of thermal expansion. This disc is engineered with a carefully designed attachment interface that allows the friction ring to expand and contract radially as it heats and cools during braking, without inducing excessive stress, distortion, or fretting at the joint. This differential-growth-tolerant design ensures that the disc remains flat, true, and free from pedal pulsation or brake judder even after repeated cycles of heavy braking and cooling, preserving consistent braking performance and extending the effective service life of the composite assembly.

Drilled & Slotted Friction Surface Options:

Available with drilled and slotted friction surface configurations that enhance thermal performance and braking responsiveness, this aluminum-composite disc leverages its lightweight construction in combination with performance-oriented surface geometry. The drilled holes provide additional heat escape pathways and allow trapped gases and friction dust to evacuate from the pad-disc interface, while the machined slots help wipe the pad surface clean with each revolution, preventing glazing and maintaining consistent friction contact. When combined with the aluminum hat's reduced thermal mass, these surface features help the disc reach optimal operating temperature quickly while still dissipating heat efficiently during sustained braking.

Multi-Option Anti-Corrosion Finishes (Painted / Coated / Oiled / Zinc-Dust):

Protected by a range of surface treatments including painted, coated, oiled, and zinc-dust finishes, this aluminum-composite disc is shielded from environmental corrosion, road salt, moisture, and oxidation across both the cast iron friction ring and the aluminum center hat. The painted and coated options are particularly well-suited to this design, as they provide a durable, aesthetically pleasing finish on the aluminum hat and non-friction cast iron surfaces — important for vehicles where the brake disc is visible through alloy wheel spokes. All finishes are applied to strict quality standards and do not compromise the structural integrity of the composite joint or the friction performance of the cast iron ring.

ECE R90 Certified & Precision-Manufactured Quality:

Fully certified to ECE R90 standards and produced in an IATF16949-certified manufacturing facility with ISO14001 environmental and ISO45001 occupational health management system compliance, this Volvo aluminum-composite brake disc meets stringent international safety and performance requirements. Each disc undergoes precision turning and grinding to achieve strict dimensional tolerances, a perfectly flat friction surface, and exact hub-centric fitment, followed by dynamic balancing, composite joint integrity verification, and multi-stage quality inspection before packaging in boxes, cartons, pallets, or bulk configurations for global distribution. Private label and customized branding options are available to meet specific distributor and retailer requirements.

Brake Pads Features:

•High performance

•Long-life service

•Anti-fade

•Low noise, low dust

•Environmental friendly

Composite-Disc Optimized Friction Formulation:

Formulated to complement the aluminum-composite brake disc design, these pads deliver a consistent, predictable coefficient of friction engineered to work optimally with the high-carbon gray iron friction ring. The friction material is designed for stable performance across a broad temperature range, ensuring reliable stopping power and confident pedal feel in all driving conditions — from everyday commuting to more demanding braking scenarios.

Thermal Stability & Fade Resistance:

Engineered to resist thermal fade and glazing under sustained braking, the pad compound retains its friction characteristics and structural integrity during repeated hard stops and high-temperature operation. This prevents the spongy pedal feel and increased stopping distances associated with pad fade, giving drivers consistent, reliable performance when braking demands are elevated.

Extended Wear Life & Reduced Maintenance:

The wear-resistant friction formulation and robust steel backing plate are engineered to provide extended service life, reducing replacement frequency and lowering total cost of ownership for vehicle owners. The pads maintain consistent thickness and structural integrity throughout their service interval, providing uniform, predictable braking performance until replacement.

Low-Noise, Low-Dust Operation:

Precision-ground friction surfaces, chamfered edges, and under-layer noise dampening work together to minimize brake squeal and vibration, while the low-dust formulation reduces unsightly brake dust accumulation on alloy wheels. The smooth, precision-ground friction surface of the composite disc further contributes to quiet, chatter-free operation.

Environmentally Conscious Production:

Manufactured under ISO14001-certified environmental management systems, these pads are produced with resource-efficient processes and formulations designed to minimize environmental impact — aligning with the efficiency and sustainability values of the aluminum-composite disc design. The production workflow prioritizes responsible material sourcing, waste reduction, and emissions control.
