Ventilated brake discs stand as the superior standard for front-wheel braking in modern vehicles. Their unique double-layer hollow structure integrates internal cooling fins, which efficiently dissipate the substantial heat generated during braking. This advanced design delivers exceptional stability under continuous braking and strong resistance to heat fade, ensuring reliable performance and driver confidence during long-distance travel or frequent braking. They strike a perfect balance between high performance, extended service life, and practicality for everyday driving.
Designed for the high curb weight and large inertia of SUVs, this brake disc utilises a high-carbon-equivalent grey cast iron. The elevated carbon content generates more free graphite flakes in the microstructure, which act as a solid lubricant to stabilise the friction interface and reduce adhesive wear under heavy-load braking. Additionally, this material offers excellent damping properties, effectively absorbing high-frequency vibrations generated during braking and suppressing noise at the source. For heavy-duty applications, the disc wall thickness has been increased to enlarge the overall thermal mass. A larger thermal mass means that during prolonged downhill descents or repeated heavy stops, the disc absorbs more heat with a slower temperature rise, significantly delaying the onset of brake fade and delivering more sustained braking force for heavy SUVs.
Given that SUVs frequently operate in muddy, gravelly, or rainy/snowy environments, the pad formulation incorporates specific hydrophobic components to reduce moisture absorption. Additionally, the friction surface receives a special treatment to impart a self-cleaning capability, allowing attached mud or fine grit to be expelled from the friction interface during braking, thereby reducing disc scoring from hard particles. The chamfered edges of the pad not only optimise NVH performance but also facilitate rapid expulsion of water from the disc surface after wading, shortening the wet-brake recovery time.
